He Built Uber Eats to $25B, Now He's Pushing AI Beyond Chat | Stephen Chau
A live demo of a ground-breaking visual AI interface that breaks free from the chatbot mode. Plus how Stephen scaled Uber Eats to $25B
Dear subscribers,
Today, I want to share a new interview with Stephen Chau.
Stephen is the co-founder of Cove, a Sequoia-backed startup that lets you interact with AI through a ground-breaking visual interface instead of chat. We had a great chat about why the future of AI is generative UI, how to build great AI products, and how he scaled Uber Eats from to a $25B ARR business.

Think beyond AI chatbots to generative UI
AI needs visual workspaces, not just chat threads. "How we think is a messy process. You branch in many directions, it's nonlinear, and you explore different things. The linear rigidity of a chat thread can’t bridge that gap.”
New technology requires new UI paradigms. "In computing, we moved from the command line to graphic user interfaces. Chatbots are like the command line era of AI."
The right UI for AI is generative AI. "If you think about it, maybe the right UI for AI is generative UI. Imagine the entire layout of the workspace and all its contents is something made just in time, based on what you're trying to do.
